Flushglaze Rooflights Create Light & Inviting Extension

A modern two-story house with a combination of brick and white exterior. Large glass sliding doors open to a patio area, and there are several tall, slender trees in the background under a cloudy sky.
Overview

This project, delivered in collaboration with PMB Construction and located in Finchley N3, involved a rear ground floor extension, a partial first floor extension, and a full house renovation. Following several successful previous collaborations, we were appointed as the rooflight supplier, providing a solution designed to maximise natural daylight within the new extension.

The Brief

The primary goal was to create a bright and open-plan kitchen, dining, and sitting area that would feel spacious and inviting. The client specifically wanted to maximise natural daylight, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and enhancing the overall living experience.

A modern dining room features a long wooden table surrounded by soft, upholstered chairs. Natural light streams in through a skylight and sheer window blinds, casting soft shadows on the parquet floor.

The Solution

The design focused on opening up the rear of the property and incorporating large glazed elements to bring daylight deep into the space. Rooflights played a central role in this strategy, helping to eliminate the risk of dark or poorly lit areas often associated with extensions.

Having previously worked with Glazing Vision products, PMB Construction selected this system with confidence, based on its proven quality, reliability, and clean aesthetic.

In addition to their visual appeal, the rooflights deliver strong thermal performance, featuring a U-value of 1.3 and Low-E coating to balance energy efficiency with maximum daylight transmission.

The Rooflight Solution

Extensions are notorious for creating dark and gloomy corners, therefore the placement of the rooflights was paramount, they were carefully positioned above the open-plan kitchen/diner/sitting area to ensure optimal daylight distribution throughout the space.

The Flushglaze design provides a sleek, contemporary finish, sitting seamlessly within the roof structure and maintaining clean lines both internally and externally.

The End Result

The completed installation has significantly improved natural light levels, transforming the open-plan area into a bright, welcoming environment. The rooflights not only enhance the visual appeal of the space but also contribute to its functionality and comfort.

Overall, the project successfully delivers a modern, light-filled living space, with high-quality roof glazing playing a key role in achieving both the architectural vision and the client’s requirements.
